It doesn’t happen often, but we’ve heard a Boise homeowner or two claim that “all shutters look the same.” Let’s eliminate any misconception – those claims couldn’t be further from reality.

Many people aren’t aware of just how many options you have when it comes to interior plantation shutters in Boise, and the impact those options can have. One of the most important of those options is the style of shutter frame you pick.

Boise Custom Shutter Frames

The options available to you for shutter frames will depend on:

  • How your window operates.

  • The depth of the window sill.

  • Whether you’ll have an outside mount or inside mount.

  • Your own personal taste and design.

A few of our shutter frames are offered only in certain materials, like our Polywood® faux wood shutters, some are only available with an inside or outside mount of a window, and some will have a look that may blend in perfectly with your existing trim, like our Craftsman frame shutters, perfect for Craftsman style homes and only offered by Sunburst.

Let’s take a look at some of our most popular shutter frames among Boise homeowners.

Craftsman Frame Shutters - You can’t turn on HGTV or read a design magazine for more than a few minutes without seeing Craftsman style. This Sunburst-exclusive frame was built specifically for Craftsman style homes and homes with similar aesthetics. A Craftsman frame gives you a clean and simple look, so no part of your home looks “overdesigned” compared to the rest. If utilizing Craftsman fashion is your desire, this is the frame for you. Currently available in Polywood and reclaimed wood shutters only.

L-Frame Shutters - An L-frame is possibly the least complex and most practical frame we offer. They have a sleek, modern look, and tend to be the easiest to work around if your window has a peculiar size or shape. The L-frame can be used as either an inside or outside mount, if you’d like to keep your existing window trim in place, and is available in Polywood® faux wood shutters, Ovation® hardwood shutters, reclaimed wood shutters and Studio™ shutters.

Z-Frame Shutters - Z-frames are a widely-chosen style because they give you a chic, elegant look on your window, similar to bass or crown molding. It gets the name “Z-frame” due to the shape of its exterior, which is mounted on the inside of the window jamb, but hugs the jamb and extends to the outside making a “Z” figure. That wraparound shape makes it so you don’t even need window trim around the window. Z-frames are available in every single one of our shutters.

Decorative Frame Shutters - A decorative frame has a lot going on in the style department. With extensive texturing and an elegant shape, this frame works best for windows without any trim, or if you want to cover your existing trim. Decorative frames are available in Polywood faux wood and Ovation hardwood shutters.
