Announcing the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Spencer Madsen

The start of a new year means a new chance to upgrade your home design, and gorgeous new shots of shutters from homeowners in Boise and across the country. The new year also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the first of 2017 is Elk Grove, California resident Katie S. for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove in Northern California is just one of several cities around the U.S. whose homes can benefit from Polywood shutters all throughout the year. Even when slightly ajar like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a good amount of outside light from entering the home. In Elk Grove as well as in Boise, that’s a good thing for any design-minded homeowner who wants a lot of customizability in their space.

Plantation shutters also block heat, which means they’re ideal for homeowners who experience hot summers or harsh winters, or who just want to improve their home’s energy efficiency. That results in a cozier home and cash back in your pocket every month with lower utility bills.

Katie’s shutters also take advantage of some newer home design trends. Neutral-colored settings such as her beige wall are becoming exceedingly stylish, with differing instances of colors–in Katie’s home the white of the Polywood shutters–providing points of interest throughout the room. Available in a range of white and off-white shades, plantation shutters can fill a great niche in modern home design.

As the winner of our Share Your Shutters contest, Katie will receive a $100 gift card to a nearby restaurant, in addition to having her plantation shutters featured alongside our previous winners.
